About us
Founded in 2013, iPrint is an institute and competence center of the School of Engineering and Architecture of Fribourg (HEIA-FR), which is a member of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland (HES-SO). The institute is located at the Marly Innovation Center (MIC) in Switzerland in a 1500 m2 building equipped with 24 laboratories. iPrint currently runs several dozen projects in parallel and has built more than 50 custom research printer platforms.
- iPrint focuses on the development on innovative technologies to overcome today’s technology limitations and enable the next revolution in digital production.
- iPrint develops and optimizes real-world solutions in inkjet-based digital printing processes. iPrint also supports industrial partners by fostering technology transfer for digital printing processes.
- iPrint educates both newcomers and specialists in inkjet-related core competencies and in interdisciplinary understanding through the Inkjet Training Center. On the academic level, iPrint regularly hosts students doing research projects at the Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD levels in mechanics, electronics, computer science and chemistry.
- In recent years, iPrint has proven the ability to anticipate the right trends and to develop very early competencies and infrastructure for exploring the potential of processes and products into new markets. Inkjet technology is digital by nature, and digitalization is omnipresent in today’s innovation.
