Cisco offers a range of courses as part of the Cisco Networking Academy. This allows students to gain excellent knowledge in the world of networking and IT security.

The HEIA-FR is a Cisco Networking Academy partner and also an Academy Support Center. It holds courses that prepare students for the CCNA Routing & Switching (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification, which covers the basics of networking, from network applications to communication protocols.

Admission

A good knowledge of written English is required. A diploma such as CFC or Maturité is recommended. Networking skills are not a prerequisite. The multimedia course is in English or French; explanations are given in English, French or German.

More information

This course is composed of three modules of 70 hours each:

  • Introduction to Networks (ITN)
  • Switching, Routing and Wireless Essentials (SRWE)
  • Enterprise Networks, Security and Automation (ENSA)

Each module contains:

  • a multimedia theory course
  • exercises and exams
  • laboratories (practical exercises)

The CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) courses are organized during the summer academy at HEIA-FR.

These courses are also organized on request for companies (with a minimum of 5 participants).

After completing a Cisco Networking Academy course and passing the theory and practical exams, students receive a course certificate.

To acquire the official Cisco certificate, it is necessary to pass an exam at an approved testing center.

Students at the Cisco Networking Academy in Fribourg also have the opportunity to take the certification at their location.

Registration at a testing center can be done at Pearson Vue.

The exams that must be passed to obtain the CCNA Routing & Switching certification are: 

200-301 CCNA
